Strenghtening genomics capacity through collaboration: RBI visits NGI's facilities
The past June, members of the Ruđer Bošković Institute (RBI) genomic facilities visited the members of the National Genomics Infrastructure (NGI) at SciLifeLab at both facilities in Stockholm and Uppsala for a two-day technical exchange focused on the implementation and delivery of long-read sequencing (LRS) technologies.
The visit provided valuable insight into NGI's approach to delivering high-quality LRS services using both Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT) and PacBio platforms. Discussions covered the full sequencing service ecosystem, including laboratory workflows, quality assurance procedures, data management practices, and service delivery systems.
As RBI advances its plans to establish its own long-read sequencing capabilities, this exchange demonstrated the benefits of collaboration within the EASIGEN consortium. By sharing experience, technical knowledge, and best practices, partners are helping to strengthen genomics infrastructure and expertise across Europe, one of they key objectives of the project.
