Designing EASIGEN around community needs: Survey results
Earlier this year, we launched two surveys to better understand the needs, challenges and expectations of the European genomics community. Our goal was to gather direct input from academia and bioindustry to ensure that the future European research infrastructure, EASIGEN, is built around real community needs.
We are pleased to share that 334 responses were collected from participants across Europe, representing both academia and industry.
What did we learn?
The survey results highlight a strong demand for improved access to advanced genomics technologies and related services across Europe.
Among the key findings:
- 79% of respondents reported limited access to advanced genomics technologies
- Many participants identified barriers that prevent them from fully exploiting available genomics resources and services
- 92% believe that EASIGEN would accelerate research
These results confirm that there is a clear need for a coordinated European infrastructure capable of facilitating access to technologies, expertise, services and training opportunities.
Why these results matter?
The findings will contribute to ongoing work aimed at ensuring that EASIGEN responds to community needs and supports researchers and companies in making the most of genomics across Europe.
The strong engagement received through the survey demonstrates the willingness of the European genomics community to actively contribute to the development of future research infrastructures
Thank you for your input and participation, your feedback is helping us design the future EASIGEN around the needs of its community and future users
